The Vertical Nocturna, hiking, 7.5 km and 15 km races have already reached capacity. Only the last places remain for the 25 km and 45 km distances, as well as the children’s race.

The countdown to the XI Famara Total has already begun. With less than two weeks to go before the event, preparations are being finalised for an edition that will once again bring together some of the best trail runners in the Canary Islands in one of the archipelago’s most spectacular natural settings.

From 13 to 15 August, Caleta de Famara will once again become the epicentre of trail running, with an event that continues to grow year after year, both in participation and sporting level. The excellent pace of registrations has once again demonstrated the event’s huge appeal, with the Vertical Nocturna, hiking, 7.5 km and 15 km races already sold out. At present, registrations remain open only for the 25 km and 45 km distances, as well as the children’s race, which will also take place during the weekend.

A top-level line-up of favourites

The provisional entry list confirms that the XI Famara Total will once again feature some of the best trail-running specialists in the Canary Islands.

In the Vertical Nocturna and the 25 km race, the main favourite will be Yoel de Paz, winner of both events in last year’s edition and one of the most prominent runners on the regional scene.

The flagship 45 km distance will feature Alejandro Mayor and Yasmina Castro, two athletes who are among the leading contenders for victory on the event’s most demanding course.

The 15 km race will feature Ione Guerra and reigning champion Edwin Camacho Pérez, while Rayco Hernández, who finished second in this distance last year, will take on a new challenge by stepping up to the 25 km race.

The winners of last year’s 7.5 km race, Tinguaro Quintero del Rosario and María José Pina Alonso, will also return to defend their titles, aiming to repeat their victories.

Despite the quality of the leading favourites, the organisers do not rule out another surprise result. The growing prestige of Famara Total has attracted high-level runners from different islands, as well as participants from various parts of Spain, meaning that the battle for the top positions promises to be more open than ever.

Three days of sport and a great atmosphere in Caleta de Famara

The programme will begin on Thursday 13 August with the Vertical Nocturna, including race bib collection, a technical briefing, the race start, the awards ceremony and live music.

Friday 14 August will be dedicated to the Carrera Chinija, along with another opportunity to collect race bibs, a group warm-up and entertainment activities.

The big day will arrive on Saturday 15 August, with the starts of the 45 km, 25 km, 15 km, 7.5 km and Hiking events, as well as physiotherapy services for the longer races, the prize-giving ceremonies and several live musical performances that will bring the weekend to a close. The programme includes three days of sporting activities and a festive atmosphere in Caleta de Famara.

The XI Famara Total, promoted by the Teguise Town Council and organised by Cronoline Eventos, with the sponsorship of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and Lanzarote Sports Destination, will once again establish itself as one of the major trail-running events in the Canary Islands, bringing together hundreds of runners in an event that combines a high sporting level with the spectacular natural surroundings of the Risco and the Famara coastline.
