The eleventh edition, taking place from August 13 to 15, will feature routes for all levels, from the spectacular Night Vertical Race to the flagship 45-kilometre event, as well as hiking and children’s races.

Some races are remembered for the finishing time, while others remain forever in memory because of the landscapes they cross. Famara Total belongs to the latter. The eleventh edition of the event, organised by the Teguise Town Council and taking place from August 13 to 15, will once again give hundreds of participants the opportunity to run between the Atlantic Ocean and the majestic Famara Cliffs, following trails that make every kilometre an experience unlike anywhere else in the Canary Islands.

The stunning natural surroundings through which the routes pass are one of the main reasons why Famara Total continues to establish itself, year after year, as one of the Canary Islands’ most highly regarded trail running events. Coastal trails, ravines, traditional paths, demanding climbs and breathtaking viewpoints overlooking La Graciosa make each race a unique way to discover the municipality of Teguise.

The adventure begins on Thursday, August 13, with the spectacular FT Vertical, a night ascent to the Ermita de Las Nieves that offers one of the event’s most distinctive challenges. Guided only by the light of their headlamps, runners will tackle a climb that is as demanding as it is spectacular, with the night and the scenery taking centre stage.

On Friday, the spotlight shifts to the Chinijos Race, designed to give younger participants the chance to be part of the trail running festival. The event promotes grassroots sport while allowing entire families to enjoy the unique atmosphere that fills Caleta de Famara each year.

The main event takes place on Saturday, featuring the 45 km, 25 km, 15 km and 7.5 km races, together with a hiking route. The flagship 45-kilometre race is aimed at experienced runners looking to take on a major sporting challenge across much of the Famara massif. The 25-kilometre route retains the essence of the course with a strong technical and scenic character, while the 15-kilometre race is ideal for those taking their first steps or continuing to progress in trail running. The 7.5-kilometre distance and the hiking route allow participants to enjoy the same privileged environment at a more accessible pace, making them some of the event’s most popular options every year.

This variety of routes is one of Famara Total’s greatest strengths. Elite athletes, recreational runners, hikers, children and families all come together for a weekend centred on sport and nature, turning the event into much more than a competition—it becomes an experience open to everyone.

The satisfaction of previous participants is one of the event’s strongest endorsements. After winning last year’s edition, Alejandro Mayor said: “The organisation outdoes itself every year. They have an outstanding event, and I’ll definitely come back whenever I can.” Women’s winner Yasmina Castro shared the same enthusiasm, stating: “It’s a fantastic race with excellent organisation. I hope to be back again next year.”

These are far from isolated opinions. Many runners who return every summer highlight the spectacular course, the friendliness of the organisers and the welcoming atmosphere throughout the weekend as the reasons why Famara Total has become a must-attend event on the Canary Islands trail running calendar.

Registration for the eleventh edition remains open until August 9, or until all available places have been filled. Entries can be completed at www.famaratotal.com, where participants will also find full information about the race categories, routes, regulations and event programme.
